Tamora Pierce

This is the last book that I haven't read by Pierce from the Emelan series, and I was very excited because the four (Sandry, Daja, Tris, Briar) are finally supposed to meet again. I recommend reading the book after Battle Magic, so that the references to the past are clearer. 

I was a bit disappointed because Sandry, who is actually the most empathetic character in other books, was the one pushing everyone. Furthermore, I also found the ending disappointing and very abrupt. They may open up because of the danger, but that doesn't mean everything is suddenly fine! In addition, it is really ridiculous at the end that the solution that was suggested in between and immediately rejected by Sandry (giving the title to Sandry's cousin) is suddenly simply accepted at the end. 

That said, Pierce still managed to build tension. I found the intrigues of the Empress Court well thought out and portrayed. I loved the descriptions of the palace and nature. 

At the end, I would say it is a must-read for Tamora Pierce fans.

The second part of the duology is as brilliant as the first. Spy games, intrigues on the court, love stories, rebellion, tragedy, gods and magic — all this is to be found in the book.

The story does have a small weakness, I think that Aly's opponents should be stronger and more competent.

Ich habe das Buch mehrmals gelesen und es ist jedes Mal ein Highlight. Obwohl die Protagonistin ein 16-jähriges Mädchen ist (Aly), würde ich das Buch auch Erwachsenen empfehlen. Die Handlung und Aly selbst sind ausgereift und gut durchdacht, sodass man nicht auf kindische Wutanfälle oder ähnliches trifft.

Aly wird entführt und als Sklavin in ein anderes Königreich verkauft. Sie plant, sich zu befreien und nach Hause zu fliehen, aber bald wird klar, dass der Trickstergott, Kyprioth, seine eigene Pläne für sie hat. Aly ist die Tochter eines Spionagemeisters und kennt und beherrscht diesen Weg. Kyprioth möchte, dass sie die Kinder der Adelsfamilie, die sie gekauft hat, beschützt; Im Gegenzug wird er mit Alys Vater über ihre Zukunft als Spionin sprechen.
Ich liebe alles an diesem Buch! Ich liebe die Politik- und Spionagehandlung, die Intrigen auf dem Königshof und auch alle Charaktere sind so sympathisch. Außerdem mag ich es sehr Nawat, eine Krähe, die zu einem Menschen wurde und Kyprioth hilft. Es gibt einen romantischen Handlungsstrang mit ihm und Aly.
Das Buch ist ein Muss für alle High-Fantasy-Fans!
